Jaap van de Klomp

Jaap van de Klomp (1940) has been in love with jazz all his life. Involved in a jazz club in Utrecht in the late 50`s - early 60`s, he started organizing tours of American jazz musicians along the Dutch jazz clubs.

In the 60`s Jaap worked with jazz stars as Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, Donald Byrd, Kenny Drew, Kenny Clarke and Oliver Nelson. In 1966 the Charles Lloyd Quartet played in his club and a year later at The Holland Festival. In 1966, Jaap also organized Misha Mengelberg´s Quartet appearance at the Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. In 1999 Jaap published a book with photos from the famous Night Concerts at the Amsterdam Concert Gebouw, "One Night Stand".

Jaap works as a photographer in the Netherlands.
